ABOUT US

The GITC mentorship program aims to connect Armenian girls across the world based on common interests in STEM and programming.  These mentorships will foster meaningful relationships and allow for the girls to bond over their heritage and their common interests as women in STEM.  The mentors will serve as resources to consult regarding obstacles as being a female in STEM, which areas to study, choosing a career, etc.  These girls will also be encouraged to work on projects together, whether they will be conducting science experiments, research, or programming apps!  The groups will likely be composed of four or five mentees and one mentor.  To start, there will be about 4 or 5 mentors in the U.S. and around 20 to 30 mentees in Armenia.  The participants will exchange information (emails, etc) that works best for them for communication.  The mentorships will last for three months.  We hope that the girls will schedule to have zoom calls once per week.  The application will include preliminary questions about intent on joining, specific STEM interests, personal goals, and knowledge of programming languages, so that we can match the girls accordingly.  The girls will also be encouraged to discuss which projects they would like to pursue together.

ԳՏՏԿ կողմից իրականացվող մենթորության նպատակն է ստեղծել ցանց ամբողջ աշխարհում ապրող ազգությամբ հայ աղջիկների միջև, ովքեր ունեն ընդհանուր հետաքրքրություններ գիտության, տեխնոլոգիաների և ծրագրավորման ոլորտում։ Ծրագիրը հնարավորություն կտա ստեղծել կապեր մասնակիցների միջև և թույլ կտա աղջիկներին հետ գնալ դեպի պատմական արմատներ ու բացահայտել կնոջ դերը գիտության մեջ։ Մենթորները կկիսվեն գիտության մեջ խոչընդոտները հաղթահարելու իրենց փորձով, կօգնեն մասնակիցներին մասնագիտական կողմնորոշման հարցում՝ ինչ ոլորտ ուսումնասիրեն, որ ուղղությամբ շարունակեն իրենց ուսումը և այլն։ Մասնակից աղջիկները կստանան խորհրդատվություն ծրագրերի իրականացման վերաբերյալ՝ անկախ նրանից գիտական հետազոտություն են իրականացնում, փորձեր, թե ծրագրավորում են հավելված։ Խմբերը կազմված կլինեն 4-5 մասնակիցներից և մեկ մենթորից։ Որպես սկիզբ նախատեսվում է ունենալ 4-ից 5 մենթոր Միացյալ Նահանգներից և շուրջ 20-ից 30 մասնակից Հայաստանից։ Մասնակիցները կաշխատեն հեռավար՝ օգտագործելով օնլայն հարթակներ (e-mail, zoom): Դասավանդումը կտևի երեք ամիս: Նախատեսվում է հանդիպում ունենալ շաբաթական մեկ օր կտրվածքով։ Խրախուսելի է, որ մասնակիցները ունենան նաև համատեղ իրականացվելիք գաղափարներ և ծրագրեր։
